This book is a shrine to one man's inability to understand cultural differences. Useing the "Your Ancestors Were Dummies" theory of the past, Mr. von Däniken concludes that since he doesn't understand something, then our ancestors certainly didn't... and since we are smarter than our ancestors, anything from the past that starts to resemble something we would come up with is anomalous. This all results, of course, into his theory of extraterrestrial interference in human developement. I must admit, however, that the book's writing is masterful; by useing endless amounts of leading questions and examples taken out of context, Mr. von Däniken strongly implies the truth of his theory without ever making a statement he might be required to prove.
