"One of the best know fictional monsters of the USA is the Headless Horseman, from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving. In the story, the Horseman is described as the ghost of a Hessian soldier whose head was blown off by a cannon… but when Ichibod Crane runs from the ghost, is it really the same Headless Horseman?"
